Turnover of Latvia's lotteries and gambling industry amounted to €124.63m during the first half of 2016, according to data from the Lotteries and Gambling Supervision Inspection of Latvia.  The results display a 10 per cent rise compared to the same period last year when the lotteries and gambling industry reportedly turned over €113.06m.  The industry's net turnover increased by 8.6 per cent, reaching €102.2m.  Last year the figure was €93.76m.  Betting profit has grown by 16.9 per cent and the income generated from interactive gambling has increased by 74.2 per cent.  Profit from slot machines grew by four per cent, while bingo lotteries this year were less profitable than the previous year.  The head of LGSI, Signe Birne, said that a decrease in profit can be observed in all game types both in the first and second quarters of 2016 as compared to the fourth quarter of 2015.  The only exception is profit from betting and interactive games.  Lotteries and gambling industry's turnover increased 23.4 per cent in this year's first half and the total turnover was €14.55m, which is by €2.76m more than in the same period last year.  At the end of June this year, there were 8,837 slot machines in 321 game halls and five casinos in Latvia.  Within a year the number of slot machines increased by 305, while the number of game halls and casinos has remained unchanged.
