Large-scale virtual reality comes to the U.S. (2017/03/02)

The Main Event Entertainment Orlando, Fla., location has debuted the first warehouse-scale, multi-player virtual reality game arena in the U.S. From Zero Latency, a free-roam virtual reality gaming provider, the V Play Reality will be a permanent attraction at the brand new Main Event location, which opened last month.  Two more areas also recently opened at the Kalahari Resorts in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

“Zero Latency’s virtual reality gaming systems are light years ahead of anything on the market,” said George Smith, Founder and CEO at Family Entertainment Group, operator of the arcade and game operations for Kalahari Resorts.  “It will enhance the already over-the-top levels of fun to be had at the Kalahari locations.”

The V Play Reality features patent-pending motion tracking technology allows natural locomotion along with a weighted simulated weapon and cutting-edge VR gear.  The game arenas have no physical internal walls, which enable players to walk, run, and fight their way through different virtual terrains.

In 2015, Zero Latency opened the world’s first warehouse-scale, free-roam, virtual reality game arena in Melbourne, Australia, followed by an installation in Tokyo in conjunction with Sega Amusements.  Another Zero Latency arena opened in Madrid ahead of the Orlando debut.  For more information, visit www.mainevent.com and www.zerolatencyvr.com.
